The Mateh Binyamin Regional Council stretches over an estimated one million dunams (1000 sq. km), extending from the Bikat Hayarden (Jordan Valley) region in the east, and up to the Lod Plain in the west, and from the Shomron (Samaria) in the north to the Jerusalem Corridor (Prozdor Yerushalayim) in the south. The Council is considered one of Israel's largest Regional Councils, judging by any parameter (the number of residents and families, number of residents and territorial jurisdiction).
According to 2009 statistics, the Council comprised 43 settlements, and boasted a population of over 53,000.
Mateh Binyahim stands out each year for its exceedingly high growth rate compared to the national average.
